Hatsune Miku Headlines Secret Lair's First-Ever Universes Beyond Commander Deck

Secret Lair is crossing a new streams-meets-cardboard threshold: Secret Lair Commander Deck: Hatsune Miku launches August 10 at 9 a.m. PT, exclusively on MagicSecretLair.com, and it's the very first Universes Beyond Secret Lair Commander deck Wizards has ever made. The world's most recognizable virtual performer is stepping onto the battlefield — and she's brought a full 100-card ready-to-play deck with her.

A Vocaloid Walks Into a Draft

The deck is led by Trostani, Selesnya's Voice, reimagined in the promotional framing as "Miku, Song of the People." It's a fitting pairing — Trostani is a Selesnya (green-white) legend built around collective growth, and this deck leans hard into that theme, running a classic lifegain shell designed to feel, in Wizards' own words, "joyful, communal, and bigger with every verse." Payoff cards like Archangel of Thune and Crested Sunmare are on board to turn all that accumulated life total into pressure your opponents can't ignore.

The headline draw for collectors, though, is the art. The deck includes 14 new borderless treatments from Japanese artists — 12 foil borderless spells plus foil borderless basic Plains and Forests — giving the whole 100-card list a cohesive, idol-concert aesthetic that's distinct from anything else in the Secret Lair catalog.

What's in the Box

This isn't a small drop. Alongside the 12 new-art foil cards and 14 foil basic lands, the deck ships with 74 non-foil reprints (some carrying the Planeswalker-stamp treatment), 10 non-foil double-sided tokens, an oversized display commander card (not tournament-legal), and a deck box. It's a genuinely complete, out-of-the-box Commander deck rather than a scattering of alt-art singles.

The Collecting Angle

Secret Lair drops live and die by their windows, and this one is tight: the deck is only orderable for 24 hours, from 9 a.m. PT on August 10 through 8:59 a.m. PT on August 11, at $149.99. A limited quantity ships right away for early orders; everything else placed during the window is guaranteed fulfillment but won't ship until May 2027 in North America (June 2027 for the EU/UK) — a reminder that Secret Lair windows are about securing the product now, not holding it in hand next week.

As the first Universes Beyond Secret Lair Commander deck, this one is also a bellwether. If it sells the way Wizards is clearly betting it will, expect more crossover Commander decks — not just crossover singles — to become a regular fixture of the Secret Lair calendar.
